My Experience: Waiting Times and Entry Process
I arrived at the venue around 2:00 PM on a Sunday.
Because of the popularity of the exhibition, visitors were first given numbered entry tickets.
My assigned entry time was 3:30 PM, meaning I had to wait about 90 minutes before entering.

Staff instructed visitors to return 10 minutes before their designated entry time.
When I returned, I was surprised by the size of the queue.
It honestly felt like there were several hundred people waiting to enter.
If you’re visiting on a weekend or during summer vacation, it’s worth arriving a little earlier than your assigned time.
How Long Does the Exhibition Take?
Many visitors wonder how much time they should set aside.
Based on my visit:
Exhibition

Approximately 90 minutes
Merchandise Shop

Approximately 30 minutes
Total Time
Around 2.5 to 3 hours
If you plan to participate in all the interactive attractions and spend time shopping, I would recommend allowing at least three hours.
Exhibition Highlights (Spoilers Ahead)
Character Introduction Area

The exhibition begins with an introduction to the main characters.
Even visitors unfamiliar with the series can quickly learn about Pingu, Pinga, Robby, and other beloved characters.

The famous opening theme plays overhead, immediately creating a nostalgic atmosphere.

The Giant Pingu Statue
One of the most popular photo spots in the entire exhibition is the giant Pingu figure.

Its size is impressive in person, and many visitors stop here for photos.
If you’re planning to take pictures, this is definitely a highlight you won’t want to miss.

Behind the Scenes of Pingu
This section showcases the production process behind the animation.
Visitors can see:
- Original storyboards
- Production notes
- Early studio materials
- Clay models used in filming

The hand-drawn storyboards are especially charming and provide a fascinating look at how episodes were created.
Interactive Animation Experiences

Unlike many traditional exhibitions, this event encourages visitors to participate.
Interactive activities include:
- Pumping air to activate animations

- Pressing buttons to trigger different scenes

- Using fishing rods to control displays

- Turning handles to change animations

These exhibits are fun for both children and adults and make the experience much more engaging.
Pingu Language and the Viral Pingu Slot Machine

One of the most entertaining areas features a microphone that converts your voice into “Pingu language.”

Fans of the show will instantly recognize the unique sounds.
Another crowd favorite is the Pingu slot machine that has become popular on social media.

If you match the symbols correctly, you unlock a special animation.
It’s surprisingly challenging and highly addictive.
Dance Like Pingu

One of the most charming attractions appears toward the end of the exhibition.
Visitors are invited to imitate Pingu’s movements in front of a large screen.

Children were enthusiastically dancing and copying the character’s actions, creating one of the liveliest areas in the entire venue.

It’s a wonderful example of how the exhibition goes beyond simply displaying objects and actively encourages participation.
Merchandise Shop Experience
For many visitors, the exclusive merchandise is just as important as the exhibition itself.

The shop is only accessible to exhibition visitors.
During my visit:
- Shop entry wait: 15–20 minutes
- Shopping time: around 30 minutes

The store was extremely crowded, and moving around could be difficult at times.

Some items were already sold out or awaiting restocking, so checking official updates before visiting is recommended if you’re looking for something specific.
Who Should Visit?
This exhibition is perfect for:
- Pingu fans
- Families with children
- Travelers visiting Tokyo this summer
- Collectors looking for exclusive merchandise
- Anyone who enjoys interactive museum experiences
Even adults who grew up watching Pingu will find plenty to enjoy.
