If you’re looking for one of Tokyo’s newest dessert spots, MAISON CRÊPE in Tokyo Midtown Hibiya deserves a place on your list.

Opened on July 22, 2026, this stylish crêperie has quickly become one of the city’s hottest sweets destinations, attracting long lines just days after opening.

Unlike traditional Japanese street-style crepes, MAISON CRÊPE offers elegant French-inspired crêpes made with premium ingredients imported from France, creating what they describe as “a luxurious crepe experience for adults.”

In this review, I’ll share my experience, including:

  • How long I waited
  • How crowded it was
  • What I ordered
  • Whether there is seating available
  • Whether it’s worth visiting during your trip to Tokyo

What is MAISON CRÊPE?

MAISON CRÊPE is a new specialty crêpe shop located on the B1 floor of Tokyo Midtown Hibiya, right next to Hibiya Station.

The shop is operated by JEAN FRANÇOIS, one of Tokyo’s well-known French bakeries.

Instead of the thick, cream-filled crepes commonly found around Harajuku, MAISON CRÊPE focuses on authentic French flavors and carefully crafted ingredients.

Their crepe batter is made using:

  • French wheat flour
  • French fermented butter
  • French salt
  • French sugar

The dough is also blended with a sourdough starter that JEAN FRANÇOIS has cultivated for over 20 years.

The result is a crepe with a unique texture:

  • Crispy and lightly caramelized on the outside
  • Soft, chewy, and slightly elastic on the inside

It’s unlike most crepes you’ll find in Japan.

How Crowded Is It? Waiting Time on Saturday

I visited at around 3:40 PM on a Saturday, only a few days after the grand opening.

There were already around 35–40 people waiting in line.

When the staff handed me the menu, they estimated a 45-minute wait.

Surprisingly, their estimate was almost perfectly accurate.

I received my crepe at 4:25 PM, almost exactly 45 minutes later.

Even while I was waiting, the line never became shorter.

If you’re planning to visit on weekends, expect to wait around 30–60 minutes, especially during the afternoon.

The Waiting Time Isn’t Boring

One thing I really enjoyed was watching the staff prepare every crepe right in front of customers.

Each crepe is cooked individually before being carefully filled and folded by hand.

The open kitchen creates a fun atmosphere, making the wait feel much shorter than expected.

If you enjoy watching chefs at work, you’ll probably appreciate the experience.

Is There Seating?

MAISON CRÊPE doesn’t have its own dining area.

I enjoyed my crepe on one of the benches directly in front of the shop.

You can also find seating nearby, including:

  • Benches inside HIBIYA FOOD HALL
  • Seating near JEAN FRANÇOIS

Although seating is limited during busy hours, it’s usually possible to find a place after waiting a few minutes.

Taste Review: Caramelized Apple with Salted Caramel Sauce

I ordered their signature dessert:

Caramelized Apple with Salted Caramel Sauce (¥980)

The first thing I noticed was the crepe itself.

Unlike ordinary crepes, the batter has a pleasantly chewy texture with a rich buttery aroma.

Inside were:

  • Slowly caramelized apples
  • Salted caramel sauce
  • Light whipped cream
  • Crunchy nuts

The apples add a gentle tartness that perfectly balances the sweetness of the caramel and cream.

The nuts provide a satisfying crunch, giving every bite a different texture.
Although the crepe looks filling, it is surprisingly light.

I honestly finished it before I knew it—and immediately wished I had ordered another one.

Rather than feeling like a typical crepe, it reminded me of enjoying a beautifully plated French dessert.

Menu

At the time of my visit, the menu included:

MenuPrice
Sugar Butter¥880
Caramelized Apple with Salted Caramel Sauce¥980
Raspberry & Pistachio Cream¥1,280
Homemade Truffle Butter & Mushroom Duxelles¥1,180

Besides sweet crepes, they also serve savory options featuring premium ingredients such as truffle butter and mushrooms.

Final Thoughts

MAISON CRÊPE offers a refreshing take on what a crepe can be.

Instead of focusing on oversized toppings, the shop highlights the quality of its ingredients and the craftsmanship behind every crepe.

Even though I waited about 45 minutes, the experience felt worthwhile.

The buttery, chewy crepe paired with caramelized apples and salted caramel created one of the most memorable desserts I’ve had in Tokyo this year.

If you’re planning a trip to Tokyo and enjoy discovering new cafés and dessert shops, MAISON CRÊPE is definitely worth adding to your itinerary.
