If you’re visiting Japan and love Pokémon, the Pokémon Center Kagawa is a must-visit destination.
This newly opened Pokémon Center is themed around Slowpoke (Yadon), Kagawa’s official Pokémon, and offers a unique experience you won’t find anywhere else in Japan.
In this guide, I’ll share my real experience visiting during the busy New Year season, including crowd levels, entry ticket systems, waiting times, and the best things to see inside.

How Crowded Is Pokémon Center Kagawa? (My Experience)
I visited around 11:30 AM during the New Year holiday season—and it was extremely crowded.

Due to high demand, the store required an entry ticket (numbered ticket system).
Instead of lining up directly at the entrance, tickets were distributed at a separate location nearby.
On that day, I received a ticket for 1:40 PM entry, which meant about a 2-hour wait.

This is very common during:
- New Year holidays
- Golden Week
- Summer vacation (July–August)
If you’re planning to visit during these periods, expect long waits and possible ticket restrictions.
How the Entry Ticket System Works
Here’s what you need to know:
- Entry tickets are limited in number
- You must return at the assigned time
- If you miss your time, your ticket may become invalid
- Re-entry is not allowed after leaving the store
Also, tickets may be distributed without prior notice depending on crowd levels.

Important tip:
Arriving late in the day can be risky—tickets may already be sold out.
Best Way to Spend Your Waiting Time
Waiting 1–2 hours might sound long, but the location makes it easy.
The store is located near the Marugamemachi Shopping Street, where you can:
- Enjoy famous Sanuki udon (Kagawa’s specialty)
- Go shopping
- Explore local attractions

You can also visit a gacha (capsule toy) shop located in the same building.
You can also:
- Visit Pokémon manhole covers (“Poké Lids”) nearby

- Check out shops like LOFT, Tower Records, and Animate in the same building

- Play at the capsule toy area (“Gachagacha no Mori”)

Pro tip:
Get your ticket first, then explore the area while waiting.
Highlights Inside the Store
1. Slowpoke-Themed Decorations Everywhere
As soon as you enter, you’ll see adorable Slowpoke-themed walls and displays.

There’s even a large Slowpoke globe statue outside that moves every hour on the hour, making it a fun attraction even before entering.

2. The Pikachu & Slowpoke Photo Spot
One of the most popular spots is a Pikachu lying on top of Slowpoke.

Almost everyone stops here to take photos—and you probably will too.
The layout makes it easy to take great pictures, even with a smartphone
3. Fun “Explore & Discover” Layout
The store isn’t just for shopping—it’s designed like a mini experience.
You’ll find:
- Multiple Pokémon statues throughout the store

There are also hidden signatures from:

Finding them feels like a treasure hunt.
